The difference between fear and fright is that fright is sudden and unexpected while fear tends to be more continuous and chronic.
In traditional Chinese medicine fright relates to the Kidneys. Fright is a very intense experience that causes the body to lose a lot amount of energy and take from its reserve - the Kidney Essence - to supplement the loss. The Kidneys manifest in the hair. As the hair relies on nourishment from Kidney Essence severe fright might turn the entire hair white in an instant, as the Essence, which nourishes the hair, is severely depleted by the fright.
As fright disturbs the mind it also affects the Heart (in traditional Chinese medicine the Heart houses the mind). Thus fright consumes the Qi of the Heart causing severe heart palpitations.
The antidote to fright is to generate strong Heart Qi and sufficient Kidney Essence.
Another way to counteract fright is to take action.
